Just few days until such time as Albese con Cassano (Como, Northern Italy) will host the Mediofondo 20th edition on Sunday, September 23, 2018 to honor the local champ Fabio Casartelli. More than 23 years have passed since that tragic July 18, 1995 when the Olympic gold medallist in Barcellona 1992 died during the Tour the France 15th stage after a fatal crash on the Col de Portet d’Aspet downhill.
The “Fabio Casartelli” Foundation has planned three different Mediofondo’s routes – short route of 58 km, medium route of 75 km and long route of 114 km including Wall of Sormano – plus the Randonnee designed to families and 4fun riders surrounded by the natural beauty of Como’s hinterland.
The surprise lay in store: socks by Castelli and water bottles by Named for all the 2018 edition participants. In addition tool storage water bottle, tyre levers, air cartridge and one pressure regulator for the first 500 registered. The race pack includes other Named’s surprise gifts plus the prizes by lot among which carbon frames, wheel pairs, helmets, saddles and more thanks, all gifts offered by the event’s partners Kuota, Suomy and Selle San Marco.
The spirit of Mediofondo and Randonee in memory of Fabio Casartelli is to spend the day all together, gathering as much teams as possible. The Mediofondo’s registration fee is 40 € until September 22nd, 2018; 50 € on September 23rd, 2018 (click here for all details). The Randonee’s fee is 35 € until September 22nd, 2018; 40 € on September 23rd, 2018 (click here). The fee includes race pack, technical and medical assistance, pasta-party voucher and insurance coverage.
