Home » Mediofondo "Fabio Casartelli", three routes, a unique feeling
14 june 2018
Just one month to go to the Mediofondo “Fabio Casartelli” whose 20th edition to be held on July 15, 2018 (postponed to September 23rd) in Albese con Cassano (Como, Northern Italy). Either competitive and 4fun riders and families from Italy and abroad will join the event alongside former or current pro’ riders, including Casartelli’s friends and old-teammates.
The “Fabio Casartelli” Foundation has planned three different routes. The short route runs 58 km: the first half goes through Como’s hinterland wavy roads and the exciting overviw of Como Lake after 31 km marking 10 km to Onno downhill, a 5 km medium-level uphill ahead of the final false flat. The short route coincides with Randonnee one, dedicated to families to whom official registration is not required.
The medium route first part is equal to the short one, followed by 20 km of wavy roads around the Como Lake and the demanding Ghisallo climb includes 12 km of hard ascent spaced with 2 km of flat, up to the Ghisallo little church that comes ahead of the 10-km false flat stretch.
The long route features a 1.575 mt overall altitude throughout 114 km demanding course among Onno, Colma and the two “Tour of Lombardia” iconic climbs – the Bellagio-Ghisallo and the Wall of Sormano (optional free choice) – where a time trial ascent intrigue the best competitors.
There’s still time to enter. The Mediofondo’s registration fee is 35 € until June 30th, 2018; 40 € from July 1st to July 14th, 2018; 50 € on July 15th, 2018. The fee includes race pack, technical and medical assistance, pasta-party voucher and insurance coverage: all what you need for a pleasant day in sports.
